Saturn

OK. Everyone knows that Saturn has a ring around it. Maybe I'm a huge ditz, but I never thought about what the ring actually is (Sorry Matt, Mark and all the other scientists out there...this is probably really offensive to you). Anyway, today Luke was staring at the ceiling fan above my bed and he says, "Mom, the ceiling fan is moving so fast that it has a ring around it, just like the rocks that move really fast around Saturn and make a ring." Then he illustrated his point with some super fast hand motions. So, that is what the ring is around Saturn (or, Satur-in, as Luke pronounces it). You learn something new everyday, and sometimes it's from a 3 year old.

First Haircut

Lance got his first official haircut on Friday. Nothing major, just a trim of the hair that was starting to fall in his face all the time. He did pretty good sitting still and the lady definitely earned her $12 by cutting his hair very fast.

While we were watching the news...

While we were in the living room watching TV tonight, it got too quiet in Lance's room. Matt went to check things out, and here is what he found:

Luke was "teaching" Lance about the things on the changing table. I hope he was also planning on teaching him how not to fall off. Oh-- and how to get down, too. That would be nice. I gave a lecture about how this was not safe, to which Luke said that he could just tie the safety belt around Lance's legs. Perfect.

Strainer Head

Last Weekend

This is what you do when it's 103 outside! First you attach the hose to the umbrella and put it on the "shower" setting. Then you run around it about 60 times. Then you eat a Push-Up. Bonus: after eating it, the plastic plunger thingy makes a great pretend sprinkler.

Sand & Water

Hello, water table. It's been too long...
Lance is footloose and cast-free. He's all healed up and ready to get down and dirty in the backyard again.

"I'm into it."

It begins. Luke has been introduced to Star Wars. As he was watching for the first time last night, I said to Matt, "I really hope he doesn't get into it." Without breaking his gaze on the TV, he said, "I'm into it."

Mother's Day Laugh

My friend emailed this to me awhile back and I thought it was hilarious. At this exact moment, my van looks like the finished product in this video.

My Lunch Dates

I went to a hair bow making class at church this morning. Weird, I know. But, I like crafts and I need to meet people in my new ward. Anyone need hair bows? Luke and Lance don't. Anyway, to reward L&L for their 90 minutes of pretty decent behavior (there were lots of glue guns and irons there, so Luke was good), I took them to lunch. Luke chose Panda Express with a trip to Barnes and Noble afterwards. The 3 item combo barely feeds us anymore. Lance can now eat all the chicken from 2 servings of Mushroom Chicken. Luke eats the mushrooms and the Orange Chicken, which leaves me with a big pile of zucchini. Thanks, guys!
