The Post about a Post

Luke's office is headquartered on the cat scratch post, second floor. His house is underneath, complete with carpet and blinking Christmas lights. Lance recently moved in, so it's kind of cramped.

They need to stretch their legs sometimes.

Words of Wisdom

Preschool has been rough lately, but Luke has been bringing home some little gems:
*The paper plate face sparked an interest in googly eyes, so we had to go and buy a bag of our own.
*The bottom thing is a "patter-in," which was glued solely and completely by Luke and Luke alone! He's got skills!

A couple more...

Now, perhaps the most important thing Luke has made or will ever make:

This was a note that Miss Linda helped Luke write after a particularly difficult drop off this morning. Luke was very sad and I ended up having a small (or medium) breakdown. She called me after I left to let me know that he was fine. She asked him if he wanted to write me a note and he said he did. He said, "Tell her what you tell me..." I am considering having a copy of this note tattooed on my arm or something. Anyway, after dropping him off I decided to go shopping to make myself feel better. One of the things that the teachers have been telling me is to try to build confidence in Luke by letting him have choices and make decisions on his own. I decided to start this early with Lance, so I let him pick out his own new shoes. He had fun getting his feet measured and looking at all the different shoes, but it was a no-brainer for him. He went for the light-up sports shoes:

These wouldn't have been my first (or second or third!) choice, but if it means he won't cry when he gets to preschool, then so be it!!!

Things to do when you're bored!

The Ultimate

This is the train that Lance discovered while we were out shopping on Friday. He made it known that we had to ride it. The look on his face was so priceless that we went back on Saturday with Matt.

Luke found some awesome outlets nearby. Could the day get any better? Just wait.....

When we got home, our neighbor gave this to Luke:

this is a 500 ft spool of cable with about 100 ft remaining...we will soon know how many feet exactly, because Luke is slowly but surely wearing us down with his, "I want to unwind the whole thing..." chant.

p.s.-- check out the pipe-shower/mister in the background. It kept us nice and cool last week!

Pretty Cool

I was at Target yesterday and I saw that some of the vintage Fisher Price toys are making a comeback...
They had several that I remember from my childhood. However, no Woodsies (Matt's favorite). Not to worry, though! His are safe and sound in his mom's basement!

Heatwave

Thanks to this heatwave, we broke out the blow-up pool again. Lance spent a good hour in there, while Luke spent a good hour watering the tree from underneath. Lance learned to put his face in the water and blow bubbles. He did it over and over again, and each time it made him laugh.
I'll miss these pool days when summer is over, and I'll miss seeing Luke in his little tighties because next year I will be enforcing swim wear.
