Special Day

I took L&L to Scientopia last week, which is one of their favorite places. They were both out of school last week, which probably won't happen again until Thanksgiving, so we partied it up. There's a little hobby store that we pass by when we go to Scientopia. The front is painted like a red caboose, and Lance has wanted to go there forever. So, we went... and we spent. There was absolutely no way Lance was leaving that place without this model airplane-- no way. They were just destined to be together. Check out the look on the little stinker's face!

Guys Day Out

Matt took the boys to Discovery Kingdom on Saturday. They saw the whale show, spun like crazy on the balloon ride, and Lance went on the (kids) roller coaster for the first time..."because I'm old enough!"

Jeepers

So, I happened upon a garage sale and found this sweet Jeep. Since my kids barely have any toys, I felt I owed it to them to buy it. It's been fun so far... but probably not as much fun as the cardboard box that Luke turned into a sink. You know, 'cause all that off-roading makes for some dirty hands!

Fourth of July

We saw some great fireworks this year at the Suisun waterfront. It was the first time we've gone out to see them since living up here, and we got super lucky with a good spot. You can barely see the lighthouse off in the distance in the picture with both Luke and Lance. It was such a pretty backdrop for the fireworks!

FIVE!

Luke is 5! I can't believe we have a five year old... five is big. For awhile it seemed like everyone else's kids were growing up a lot faster than mine, but not anymore. Time seems to be speeding along, and it feels so surreal that I have a boy that will be in kindergarten in a month! ... anyway,
all of his birthday wishes came true: he received the toolbox of his dreams and lots to stock it with. His bedroom is a miniature version of Home Depot. He's happy.
I felt really weird gift wrapping wire nuts and 100 feet of speaker wire-- has that stuff ever been gift wrapped before?-- but it felt so right seeing his happy smile as he opened them.

Happy Birthday 5 year old Luke!

S'more Glasses

Father's day weekend was sweet:

We went to see Toy Story 3 and had s'mores in the back yard for dessert.

On Sunday we picked up Lance's new glasses. It turns out that he's farsighted and will need to wear glasses full time like Luke. Here's a picture of him after I told him to turn around so I can see how smart he looks in his new glasses:

Not quite the shot I was going for!! This one is better:

It's only been 2 days, but he seems to like wearing them. The biggest problem we're having is that he also likes to play with them... they make a great airplane, and when he's all done flying them, he'll just leave them in the back yard somewhere. I think they were lost about 6 times today and I think I said, "If you take them off, PUT THEM UP HIGH!" about 600 tomes today. I foresee them getting stepped on and broken by Thursday.

Vacation!

Here are some pictures from our San Diego trip. We got to see almost our entire family and some of our oldest and best friends, the weather was great, and nobody got sick! Winner!

Disneyland was good, especially spending part of a day with Trent and Corinne. We discovered the Dumbo train ride-- how I missed that ride for 33 years I have no idea, but it is now one of my (and Lance's) favorites!

Since being home, Lance has been talking very sweetly about baby Nolen, although all he did when Nolen was around was falsely accuse him of being a shovel-stealer. Sorry, Nolen! Also, Luke has spent this week passing along all the new information he learned from Papa Glen and Uncle Matt to his preschool teachers. He is so proud of the butt splices that Papa Reeg bought him at Home Depot-- after our 12 hour drive home, he burst into his room and hung them on his work bench. Funny kid. Disneyland and the beach were pretty great, but it's the butt splices that make him beam!

Thanks everyone for making our trip great!! Thanks to mom and Glen for hosting us and feeding us! XO
